Webb says Waialae is worth the trip!

Sony Open in Hawaii 2022

Q. Why would you come out to the middle of the ocean for one week (to compete in the Sony Open in Hawaii)?

WEBB SIMPSON: That's a good question. This (Hawaii) is really far from Charlotte, NC. I realized that when I got off the plane in Phoenix, I'm not even halfway there.

I love it here. I have great memories here. And it (Waialae) is a golf course that if I put top five favorite courses for me and my game, this would be one of them. It's short, it's tight, we have doglegs, we have wind, I love bermuda greens.  It's a trip worth taking.

*Out of his 11 starts at the Sony Open in Hawaii, PGA TOUR pro Webb Simpson has made every cut and finished in the Top-20 in eight of those appearances. Simpson had three Top-5 finishes in the last three years he's competed at Waialae (T4 in 2018, 3rd in 2020 and T4 in 2021).
