Honolulu, Hawaii – January 3th, 2023 –Sony Electronics Inc. working in partnership with the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, ERI (the nation’s leading recycler of electronics and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company) and T&N (Hawaii’s leading e-waste collection company); are joining forces this weekend to provide Hawaii residents with a convenient way to responsibly recycle unwanted consumer electronics. The “3Rs School Recycling Drive” will take place at Waialae Elementary School.
Residents will be able to take their unwanted electronic items (along with scrap metals, cooking oils in sealed containers, renovation materials and Hi-5 aluminum cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles) and recycle them for free on Saturday, January 7th from 9am until 11am at Waialae Elementary School, 1045 19th Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816 (Map).
The event offers local residents an opportunity to give new life to old, unwanted, electronic equipment in an environmentally sound, and responsible manner that is free, convenient and secure. Sony is committed to ensuring that the electronics materials collected are managed efficiently and to the highest standards of environmental responsibility and allows area residents to help the environment and contribute to a more sustainable future.
To encourage consumers to take advantage of this recycling event, one-day admission tickets to the Sony Open golf tournament, January 12th – 15th, will be available to the first 100 participants donating acceptable electronic items. The 2023 Sony Open will be the 25th anniversary of Sony sponsoring the annual PGA tournament. The community-wide charity event provides the opportunity to showcase and raise awareness of sustainability with attendees and the local community on the importance of reducing the tournaments environmental footprint to protect, conserve and minimize the impact on Hawaii’s natural environment and resources. The community recycling event is just one sustainability initiative incorporated into the 2023 event.
By recycling old electronic products responsibly, useful materials such as glass, plastic and metal can be reused to manufacture new products. We encourage consumers to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of unwanted electronics in an environmentally responsible manner.”

Smart boards, microwaves, fans, vacuums, blenders, large printer & copier machines.
