This free community event pairs five of our state’s most elite junior golfers with PGA TOUR pros who are here in Hawaii to compete in the 2019 Sony Open in Hawaii. The annual Pro-Junior event is a three-hole alternate-shot exhibition with funds raised from generous sponsors to benefit the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association.
Hawaii Tourism Authority Pro-Junior Challenge
The five local junior golfers selected to compete in the 2018 Hawaii Tourism Authority Pro-Junior Challenge include: Reese Guzman (Maui High School), Isaiah Kanno (Waiakea High School), Noah Koshi (Hawaii Baptist Academy), Davis Lee (Mid-Pacific Institute) and Kyung Eun Lee (Iolani School).
Each of the 5 teams will select one of their two drives to play from. Each team's junior golfer will hit from this position and alternate shots with their PGA TOUR pro until the ball is holed.
The Longest Drive competition #10 Hole: The team with the shortest 2nd shot to the hole will win the long drive contest (ball must come to rest in a fairway or on the green).
Closest to the Hole competition #11 Hole: Team with the tee shot closest to the hole will win the closest to the hole contest (ball must come to rest on the green).
Founded in 1998, the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association provides an environment where any junior golfer, male or female (ages 7-18), can enjoy golf and progress at his or her own rate from beginner to proficiency, while promoting and preserving the traditions and integrity of the game.
