There's only three days left to show your Aloha for Hawaii Charities! When you donate to a participating charity like Project Vision Hawaii, through the Aloha for Hawaii Charities campaign before 4pm HST, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, that charity will receive 100% of your donation plus a bonus boost from a funding pool generated by Friends of Hawaii Charities from the 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Project Vision Hawaii's HiEHiE mobile shower trailers bring health, hygiene and human service resources to people experiencing homelessness. Over the past several years, grants from Friends of Hawaii Charities have provided support for Project Vision’s HiEHiE program which “meets people where they are” at community centers, encampments, beaches and shelters.
"Going without daily hygiene affects one’s mental wellbeing and contributes to the stigma associated with homelessness, said Darrah Kauhane,Executive Director. “Project Vision Hawaii is grateful for the longstanding support from Friends of Hawaii Charities which allows us to continue to be a resource for people who are living without homes - offering health services, conducting tests, providing hygiene and helping them access life-saving social services.”
Last month Project Vision Hawaii received additional recognition and $5,000 from the PGA TOUR after being selected as one of five finalists for the TOUR's national Charity of the Year honors.
