Friends of Hawaii Charities

MISSION

Friends of Hawaii Charities activates financial resources from the private sector and spirited volunteerism from the community, in concert with the extraordinary natural resources of the state, to produce sports and cultural events that generate funds for qualifying not-for-profit endeavors in Hawaii benefiting its women, children, the elderly, and needy, primarily in the areas of intervention, health and education.

WHO WE ARE

The Friends of Hawaii Charities (Friends), a 501 ( c ) (3), was formed in 1998 as a result of the shared vision and collaboration of a group of Hawaii business and community leaders to generate needed funding for Hawaii’s charitable organizations that benefit women, children, youth, and needy.

The Friends’ principal fundraising event is the Sony Open in Hawaii PGA TOUR golf tournament. The Friends with support from the Hawaii Community Foundation, and former charity partner The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation has distributed over $24 million since 1999 benefiting over 350 Hawaii charities.
