Hawaii Represents Six players with local ties to tee it up on Thursday

 

Kaimuki High School graduate and 2006 HHSAA State Golf Champion Chan Kim makes 2022 his first Sony Open in Hawaii appearance.  Born in Korea, but raised in Hawaii, Kim has seven international victories on the Japan Golf Tour including two last year, the 2021 Vantelin Tokai Classic and 2021 Dunlop Phoenix.

In addition to Jared Sawada who Monday-qualified, other players with Hawaii ties include Punahou alum Parker McLachlin, Waialae Country Club Head Pro Kevin Carll, Maryknoll alum Peter Jung who as a 16-year-old qualified for the 2019 Sony Open in Hawaii, and Garrett Okamura, Assistant Pro at Nanea Golf Club who received the PGA Section exemption.
